Get packed and travel prepared!

Here are some handy tips before embarking upon your study trip with ISP. Remember, you can always reach out to us with any further questions

General Tips

  • Identify ALL luggage inside and out with your name and destination, preferably use luggage with a locking system.

  • Weigh your luggage at home using a travel scale, be sure to check the airline’s baggage allowance for your flight.

  • Avoid bringing expensive jewelry or other valuable items.

  • Check airline regulations for weight, size, and number of bags – do not take more than two bags.

  • Leave extra space in your bags for souvenirs.

  • Pack a change of clothes, important documents (passport, visa, etc.), and any prescription drugs you might need in your carry-on bag in case your luggage gets lost or delayed.

  • Keep a copy of your passport in a place different from your actual passport. Also, leave a copy at home and send a scanned version to your email address for quick handling on-site or at the local embassy or consulate in case your passport gets lost or stolen.

  • Check with your cell phone provider about international plans available abroad. Alternatively, your ISP team can tell you how to purchase a local SIM card with a data plan.

  • Make sure your bank allows you to make payments abroad with your credit card and that you know your PIN code necessary for ATM withdrawals. Consider using an international travel banking app like Monzo, Wise or Revolut.

  • Keep a list of phone numbers to cancel credit cards in case of loss or theft.

  • Download the Travel Zone App for local tips, emergency numbers and your day-by-day trip itinerary.

Consider going digital to save space. Bring a Kindle instead of a book, and switch to a digital notepad or tablet for note-taking.

Roll your clothes, don’t fold, it’ll save space in your luggage and help avoid your clothes getting too creased!

On the airplane

  • Wear comfortable, loosely fitting clothes and dress in layers to accommodate temperature changes.

  • Bring any essentials and a set of clothing in your carry-on luggage in case your checked luggage gets delayed or lost.

  • Consider bringing some toiletries on board that are under 100ml for long-haul flights—toothpaste, toothbrush, wet wipes etc.

  • If you have a streaming service app on your phone (Netflix, HBO, Spotify), download some movies and TV shows that can be watched offline, just in case nothing on the in-flight entertainment catches your eye!

  • Read the TSA Guidelines (http://www.tsa.gov/) before packing so you know what is allowed in your hand luggage and what is allowed in your checked luggage.
